General Terms & Conditions

  1.  This document sets out the terms and conditions under which you receive dental care and treatment from your dentist at the Menston Dental Practice, under private contract.
  2. Before you can have any treatment you must be examined by a dentist who will give you a treatment plan and estimate. We will take your wishes and considerations into account as far as possible in drawing up your treatment plan. Treatment must be completed within a reasonable time (normally three months). Some treatments may depend upon others being completed successfully.
  3. Your estimate includes charges for all dental, technical and administrative staff, laboratory work, materials and overheads. There is presently no VAT on dentistry. Your estimate is valid providing treatment starts within one month of the date it is issued.
  4. You may refuse to have any treatment at any time but this may affect the rest of your treatment.
  5. You should think carefully before committing yourself to any optional treatments that are not reversible.
  6. We take time and care over your treatment and use the best quality materials and laboratories. Sometimes things do not go according to plan in which case we will discuss this with you and do our best to put things right.
  7. Root treatments, extractions, and other complex or surgical treatments can cause discomfort for several days. Alterations or new dentures, crowns, bridges and implants will take time to get used to.
  8. Dental treatment does not last forever. This depends upon the conditions of use, which are outside our control. We will however repair or replace free of charge any restorative dental work that we agree has failed within one year of being completed or fitted. Dentures repairs are guaranteed for a period of 3 months from the day they are fitted.
  9. Tooth coloured treatments will be a reasonable colour match to your existing teeth but we can not guarantee an identical match. The best way to avoid colour variations between several teeth is to have them all treated at the same time.
  10. During certain treatments it may be necessary to take photographs of your smile to record how your teeth looked before and after treatment. For your reference these photographs are the property of Menston Dental Practice and may be reproduced in promotional material. No identifiable information will be used.
  11. We will try to run on time and make your appointment as quick and as easy as possible. We expect you to turn up for your appointments on time. If you arrive late we will end your appointment on time and your treatment may be compromised so that later patients are not inconvenienced. If you think you may be late please ring for advice. If you arrive very late we may have to rearrange your appointment.
  12. The charge we make if you miss an appointment, arrive too late to be seen or cancel without 24 hours notice is currently £20 per 20 minutes of surgery time.
  13. If you are in arrears we will not continue with your treatment and we may ask for payment in advance.
  14. Accounts that remain unpaid for over 1 month are referred to a Debt Collection Agency. Referrals will incur an administrative charge of 25% of the outstanding amount. Minimum amount of £40.
  15. If you require a refund for any advanced payments you have made for any future treatment pending, an administrative fee of £10 will be charged.
  16. We expect you to pay for your treatment as it is carried out. Treatments that require the services of a laboratory such as implants, crowns, veneers, dentures, bridges will require the payment of a 50 % deposit at the initial preparation appointment. The outstanding amount will become payable at the fitting appointment.
  17. We expect you to keep us up-to-date on matters such as health conditions, medications you are taking and to attend for check-ups at intervals recommended by our dentist. We expect you to take care of your mouth and to follow as far as possible any advice you are given.
  18. Your acceptance of treatment indicates your acceptance of these terms. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be subject to English Law.
